THE HUB Life Resource Center
Located at McFarlain UMC in Norman, Ok or THEHUB@mcfarlinumc.org

The HUB Life Resource Center is a safe haven where kids and teens can come for help and healing. Consider the following information. In 2004 the state of Oklahoma had 28 young people between the ages of 10 and 17 commit suicide. Last year alone 4 deaths of this type occurred in our community. List past spring, an elementary student was brutally murdered in Purcell. In 2002 Oklahoma was second in the nation in divorce. Not to mention other life experiences – death of a loved one or close friend, conflict and broken relationships, difficulty at school, and the challenges of growing up and searching for who they are. As hard as it is to imagine, these are the issues facing kids and teens today. Oftentimes however, they don’t have the resources they need or a place to go to talk and have someone who will listen as they struggle to make sense of these things.

Four churches – Bridgeview, McFarlin, Moore First, and St. Stephen’s United Methodist Churches – decided to create a place for kids and teens dealing with these issues, a safe caring environment that provides encouragement and spiritual support. THE HUB is the realization of that vision.

THE HUB Life Resource Center welcomes any child or teen, ages 4-17 years, regardless of their faith background. All services provided by THE HUB are free of charge. Hours for THE HUB are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. or by appointment. THE HUB is located in the Aldersgate House next door to McFarlin United Methodist, 407 S. University, Norman, Oklahoma. The Reverend Mary C. Irby may be contacted at 405-620-3645 or by email at THEHUB@mcfarlinumc.org
