Hope for the Holidays: An Event for Children and Teens with a Deployed Parent
When: Sunday, November 15
Time: 6:00-7:30pm

The holidays are difficult times for children and teens (ages 4 years and up!) with a deployed parent. This event will be a fun experience that will help the kids name their disappointment that their parent will be away and at the same time give them tools and permission to enjoy the holidays.

Dinner will be provided! This event is FREE thanks to a generous grant from Broadmoor Community Church, Colorado Springs.

What: The holidays, especially Christmas, is a difficult thing to face when you are a grieving child! Sadness and uncertainty about what to expect plus guilt about being excited when they think they should feel only sadness, makes them dread the holidays.

This event will provide a fun and meaningful time where they face their fears and grief but also understand that they are allowed to feel happy and exited! They will also create a special ornament to be placed on the Christmas tree in honor of their loved one as a ritual of remembrance on Christmas day!

Winter Certification Course
January 14, 15 & 16, 2010

The Certification Course is designed by Rev. Leanne Hadleyusing the skills and techniques used at First Steps with hurting children andteens. We hope you will plan to join us this winter!

     Understanding and developing the Spiritual Life of Children and Teens

      Helping Children and Teens Connect to Holy Scripture

      Helping Children and teens During Times of Grief, Divorce, and Crisis

        Working With Special Needs Kids

        Taking Our Learnings Into The World

The course is perfect for Christian Educators, pastors,teachers, nurses, chaplains, parents and grand parents.

Cost of the program is $250.00 and includes all materialsneeded. Each participant will be awarded a certificate of completion.
