If this phrase describes your child, I would encourage you to look at their schedule.
One reason I believe that children are tired is that there are two kinds of tired. Mental fatigue verses physical fatigue. Happy children work hard and play hard and if a balance is struck, they should reach the evening time and be both mentally and physically tired. It is sort of like the ying and yang of tired children.
In this time of computers, video games and fewer school recesses, children are getting very mentally tired but I am not sure they are doing enough whole body activity like playing outside, wrestling and swinging to get tired. When they are “out of balance” it leads to irritability.
So when you find your child tired and irritable day after day, make sure they are getting a good balance of mental and physical activity. Make sure your child plays outside several times a day and that they have whole body toys to play with in addition to computer games. Children need both mental and physical stimulation—be sure your child gets both. | | | Permalink | Trackback |
