| Happy Birthday!? | |

 | | Posted by: Leanne | 5/4/2008 4:57 PM | It was my birthday on Friday and like most of us do on our birthdays, I looked in the mirror to see if I looked as old as my age indicated. And, sadly, I look my age! I was dreading the day, feeling old and wrinkled and then a little boy walked into my office for his session.
His grandma had died earlier that week and he was very sad! He cried as he told me about all the fun times they had had, what a special woman she was, and how much fun he had had at her 80th birthday party! And then he looked into my eyes and said, "You know the worst part, Leanne? I will never get to look into her face again..and she was really beautiful...and I just wish I could look into her beautiful face again!"
Now, she was 80 years old...much older than I and suddenly I realized that beauty has nothing to do with our age, the number of wrinkles on our faces or on anything! We are beautiful to those who we love and who love us in return! Beauty if not found in our mirrors, but in our relationships!
I know we will all spend time trying to look better...my prayer is that we will spend more time, though, nurturing the relationships in our lives and less time worrying about our looks. I pray we will be able to see ourselves with the same love that this little boy saw his grandmother and with the same love that God looks at us with! For through loving eyes, we are all beautiful!! Happy birthday to me...happy birthday to you...this year and the next! | | | Permalink | Trackback |

Over the past couple of weeks I have learned that looking at yourself in the mirror only makes you look harder at the imperfections and you become more critical of yourself. I have learned that you might not see the beauty in yourself but your family and friends always do. Change in life is hard and taking what people say may cause you to think negative about yourself. Now when I walk in front of the mirror I want to keep my eyes closed. I am learning again to open one eye at a time and look at myself. Wow, I am a special person and everyone needs to learn how to step back in front of the mirror and open one eye at a time until both of them are open and you believe in yourself again. It does not matter what others may think because I have learned it is not what is on the outside but what is on the inside that makes me and you special. Believe me that GOD had his plan for us to look in the mirror and each time we learn something new, just have faith, you are special. |
