| An Abduction with a Happy Ending! | |

I stopped what I was doing, listened to the awful story about how he had been waiting for his school bus and a man forced him into his car while pointing a gun at him.
My heart broke! I thought of the fear his parents must have been feeling. I worried for his safety. I said a prayer, and started to cry.
Then, moments later, while a story of lowering your credit card debt was underway, the newscaster broke in and said that this boy has been found unharmed! I burst into tears!
Isn't it odd that I could have felt so connected to a child I have never met, will most likely never meet and who I don't know a thing about. Is he a polite kid? Does he make good grades? Does he face obstacles in his life? The thing is, when he was hurting, none of those things mattered--all that mattered was that he was a child and I loved and cared for him and for his parents I didn't know.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could love and care for all the children in our church, our community and our homes with such unconditional love? This boy was in big trouble and so are many, many other children--but for some reason, they remain invisible to our care. Perhaps they haven't been abducted--but they are in danger all the same--temptations of drug and alcohol abuse, struggles at school, needing safe people to talk to and trust and not being able to find anyone-- my prayer is that we will care for all children as deeply as we did this child today!
May God Bless the boy who was abducted today and bring him and his family healing and peace. May God bless all of the children living in our homes, communities, country and world. And...May God bless you when love children with a deep and unconditional love and care! | | | Permalink | Trackback |
