| Swaddling Clothes of Love and care | |

One of my sweetest memories as a mother is dressing my babies. I remember what their clothes looked like; I remember how proud I felt each time I finished snapping all the snaps and buttoning all the buttons and there was my baby, dressed and perfect in my eyes.
I can just imagine Mary dressing her precious little one with the same care as we did our own babies. How carefully she laid out the cloth to swaddle him with. How gently she laid him on them and began to wrap him so he would feel warm and secure. And when she finished, she picked him up, help him close, and knew he was the most precious gift on earth.
I wonder how our spiritual journeys would be different if we took the same care, each time we encountered another person, with the words we spoke and the actions we did. I wonder what would happen if we approached others with the same love and care as Mary did with Jesus and as we did with our babies.
Today I encourage each of us to pause just for a moment and think about how precious the baby Jesus really is and how we might show him our love by caring for those he also loves--the poor, the lonely, the annoying...and may we not just think about it, but do it. May we approach all we meet as if they were a new babe needing to be wrapped in the swaddling clothes of love and care!
