A Day to DreamMinimize

A friend of mine just called to say he had read an article by a pastor who was speaking about Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech, "I have a Dream." The pastor said that black children in America are living a nightmare -- that is their dream.

I would add to that that many children of all colors and from all over the world have awoken from sleep today and discover that their nightmares continue! War, fear, poverty, dysfunctional families, addiction-- the nightmares are real and they go on and on.

We have a God though who promises that light always shines in the darkness and that nightmares will end! What a shame if we stop believing that dreams of equality, peace and an end to war and poverty are no longer possible. What a shame if we start believing that the nightmares are all there is to life.

So today, especially on this Martin Luther King, Jr. day, let us dream, let us hope and let us pray for these children who face nightmares! I invite you to pause for just a moment today and say a prayer. Our God is a God of light and will bring an end to ALL nightmares!
